Hennessey fire officials discuss library structure

Hennessey’s new assistant fire chief raised some safety issues in waiting to restore one of the town’s older structures during a recent town board meeting. “If we had a fire it would all go up,” said James Matousek about the town’s public library on Main Street.

KEWA plans event to recruit members

The Kingfisher Elks Women’s Auxiliary (KEWA) held its monthly meeting Tuesday, March The meeting opened with President Kathy Mueggenborg leading the flag salute. The minutes were read by Judey Cates, secretary, and were approved by Janet Kale and Bonnie Bamberg.

Rourke hosts Hennessey Farmerettes meeting

Nine members of the Hennessey Farmerettes met March 12 in the home of Lily Rourke. President Billie Melendy called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. The devotion, “The Secret,” was given by Mary Curry. Roll call was answered by all telling about being humorous and happy.

Bookcase Review Club meet canceled

The regular March meeting of the Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club has been canceled due to concerns over the coronavirus outbreak. The next regular meeting is Monday, April 27, at the Farm Bureau Insurance building in Kingfisher.

Liebl serves as House page for Sanders

Laura Liebl of Okarche, and a junior at Deer Creek High School, paged for House Majority Leader Mike Sanders the week of March 9-12 at the state Capitol. Liebl is the daughter of Steve and Dionne Liebl. Her plans after high school are to attend college and to become a mental disability nurse.

Supreme Court orders state courts on hold

State courts are effectively on hold for the next 30 days based on an emergency order from the state Supreme Court, Associate District Judge Lance Schneiter said late Tuesday.
