Oklahoma high school boys basketball – and the sport in general – lost an icon early Sunday morning. Longtime legendary Okarche coach Ray West died at his home after a brief but vigorous battle with cancer. He was 68.

Hennessey Town Board breaks ground on pool

Hennessey Board of Trustees, broke ground Monday morning on the town’s $2.1 million municipal pool. Carrothers Construction of Paola, Kan. won the bid and Cherie Worden, their project manager, said they expect to start work as soon as they receive final approval from the state.

HHS to host blood drive

Oklahoma Blood Institute will hold a Bigfoot-themed blood drive with Hennessey High School on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hennessey High School, 707 E. Oklahoma.   Each blood donor will receive a limited edition Bigfoot t-shirt.
