Mary ‘Dawn’ Pappe

Mary “Dawn” Pappe, Kingfisher, is now absent from her body and present with the Lord. Born Oct. 13, 1926, she passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019. She was 92 years old. Dawn loved and faithfully served her family, church and community. She had a way of brightening any room she entered.

License was easier to get when offline

I successfully obtained my senior citizens lifetime hunting/fishing license yesterday. I learned a couple of days ago that the only way to get one is by going online with a computer to make the request and fill out the forms.

Gritz Hennessey mayor again after brief reprieve

John Robert “Bert” Gritz was sick Monday night. That means he missed presiding as vice mayor at the Hennessey Board of Trustees meeting since former Mayor Mike Shaw wasn’t there because his term expired. Gritz also missed the board electing him mayor that night in a 4-0 vote.

Collier, Stephenson golden at ‘Champions’

Kingfisher County athletes brought home three gold medals Tuesday from the final track and field meet of the season. Hennessey’s Madison Collier won both throwing events and Kingfisher’s Ally Stephenson the high jump at the Meet of Champions held at Moore High School.
