KHS fields state’s best photogs

Local funeral home director earns state honor

Rusty Sanders of Kingfisher, a longtime local funeral service owner and operator, received the highest honor bestowed to Oklahoma funeral directors, the OKFDA Stewardship Award.

Kingfisher linemen earn journeyman certification

Two Kingfisher Electric Department linemen are now certified as journeymen linemen after completing a four-year apprentice program through Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma (MESO).

Hill resigns as AD, 2 teachers hired at Hennessey

Hennessey School Superintendent Mike Woods told the board Monday night that he’d accepted Nathan Hill’s resignation. Hill served as athletic director for the past few years and was first hired as the defensive football coach in 2007.

OYE announces local exhibitor results

Kingfisher County FFA and 4-H members took home a number of high honors at the annual Oklahoma Youth Expo in Oklahoma City. The OYE, formerly called the Oklahoma City Spring Livestock Show, provides the final competition of the spring season for exhibitors of top livestock from throughout.

Green named region’s top male athlete

Kingfisher High School racked up a number of honors at Thursday’s Region 1 meeting of the Oklahoma Coaches Association. Senior Trey Green was voted the Region 1 Male Athlete of the Year after a poll of coaches and athletic directors. Region 1 covers 76 school districts in northwest Oklahoma.
