Kingfisher County commissioners approved a revised pipeline crossing permit at their weekly meeting Monday.

Weather and heavy rainfalls have extended the U.S. 81 construction project past its anticipated spring completion date, according to the most recent Oklahoma Department of Transportation update.

Kingfisher’s third meeting with Blanchard this season went the way of the first two. The only difference this time around? There was much more on the line. The Yellowjackets won a 4A regional championship for the second consecutive year Saturday by knocking off the Lions 73-39 at the APB.

A third consecutive trip to the area tournament is in store for the Kingfisher girls basketball team. The Lady Jackets earned that right Saturday afternoon with a 51-42 win over Elk City in their 4A regional consolation championship at the APB.

After checking on a date where there were no scheduled OU and OSU home games, the Saturday, Sept. 21, date was chosen for the ninth annual Hennessey Wine & Chocolate Festival.The decision was made by the Hennessey United Association board of directors at their Feb. 21 meeting.

Oklahoma State University awarded degrees to a total of 1,722 students last fall, including 1,114 Oklahomans, according to the Office of the Registrar.

Kingfisher High School seniors Colton York, Lo-gun Burnham and Zach Goodwin were guests last Tuesday of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. York is the son of Trent and Terri York. He’s active in football, basketball, track and field, soccer and FCA.

Plainview HCE held its February meeting recently in the home of Doris Brehm. Diane Musick called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. Eight members were present and the minutes of last month’s meeting were read.

Police cars and fire trucks were blaring their sirens. The streets were lined with cars honking their horns and fans cheering. The Okarche caravan was in full effect.

Kevin Lewallen has been a part of his share of heart-breaking losses. Last Friday night’s ranks right up there. “I’m not sure if I’ve felt as sick after a game as I did then,” said the Lomega girls coach.
