Dover, Hennessey, Loyal all see January tax bump

Hennessey, Dover and Loyal led local municipalities in sales tax gains for January. Kingfisher County also had an increase in its January sales tax check compared to January a year ago. (See accompanying chart for additional details.

NODA has open forum here next week

Northern Oklahoma Development Authority (NODA), doing business as Cherokee Strip Transit, a rural public transportation system is holding an open forum for the community’s input into its Section 5311 transportation plan as in the previous years. The forum will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25.

Bookcase Review Club plans to meet

Kingfisher’s own Kathy Kadavy will present a review of “Dust Bowl Girls” by Lydia Reeder at the Feb. 25 meeting of Bookcase Review Club. The meeting will be at the Farm Bureau Insurance building, 117 W. Sheridan Ave. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., prior to the review.

HPS dome will sport gigantic scoreboards

Big screen basketball scoreboards in Hennessey’s 180-foot diameter dome-shaped facility won’t be lost in the school’s 33,000 square-foot facility once it’s built. A 10 foot by 32 foot screen will be at the south end of the gym and a 7x10 screen at the north end.

Hennessey school’s GP income takes a dip

‘But it’s no panic’ The February gross production tax income to Hennessey Public Schools “took a slight drop,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods at the Feb. 11 school board meeting. “But it’s no panic,” Woods added. The return is $244,130.

Photo] Rotary hosts 3 KHS seniors

Kingfisher High School seniors Madisyn Edwards, Zara Raja and Saiera Raja were guests last Tuesday of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Edwards is the daughter of Mike and Lisa Edwards. She is active in Health Careers Certification and HOSA, for which she is currently the treasurer.
