Continuing light rain keeping county soggy

Light showers over the past four days kept conditions soggy across Kingfisher County. Kingfisher Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded a total of .6 inch of rain from Saturday through 7 a.m. Tuesday, falling as follows: Saturday .04 inch; Sunday, .06 inch; Monday, .15 inch, and Tuesday, .35 inch.

Altar Society meets, elects officers for next session

The Sts. Peter & Paul Altar Society met in the Annex on Wednesday, Feb. 6. The group received instruction in the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Training and watched a video as required for all individuals who volunteer or minister to children in the Archdiocese.

Cooper, Kloeppel wed in California

Jordyn Cooper and Beau Kloeppel, both of Hilmar, Calif., exchanged vows Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at the Greengate Ranch and Vineyard in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Steve Schmidt officiated the ceremony. Father of the bride is Greg Cooper of Hilmar, Calif.

Plainview HCE gathers for January meeting

Ten Members of the Plainview HCE held its monthly meeting Monday, Jan. 14, at the home of Debbie Winters. Dana Golbek, president brought the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Members recited pledges to the American and Oklahoma flags followed by the monthly devotion.

Rotary hosts 2 KHS seniors

Kingfisher High School seniors Dejanna Harjo and Mackenzie Holmes were guests recently of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Harjo is the daughter of Desirae Horse and Daniel Harjo. She’s active in track, the academic team, Native American Club and Spanish Club.

Omega HCE to meet this week

Omega Home and Community Education group will have its February meeting this week. The group will gather at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the home of Volamae Marks. Guests are welcome.

The OKC Storm served its purpose by providing Kingfisher a stiff test before the playoffs, but also by not ruining Senior Night.

END OF AN ERA

Okarche closed out the era in its current gymnasium Saturday night with a pair of district championships. The teams’ trek to the state tournament will have to be done elsewhere.
