OBU announces fall 2018 semester honor rolls

Four Kingfisher County residents were named on Oklahoma Baptist University’s academic honor roll for the fall 2018 semester. The President’s Honor Roll included Kingfisher’s Aniessa Edsall and Malia Wilfong as well as Okarche’s Taylor Bomhoff. The Bison Honor Roll included Josh Wilson of Okarche.

Okarche caps TRC with Cashion sweep

Okarche’s final regular season game in its current gym proved to be an exciting one - and successful to boot. Marlo Hunt fed Kassidy Rother with time running down in a tie game Tuesday night with Cashion.

Final buzzer sounds on junior high seasons

Kingfisher’s junior high basketball teams concluded their 2019 seasons last week and, once again, put together some stellar records. None topped the eighth grade boys, who finished 18-1 on the season. The Jackets lost just one game in the two-year junior high careers.

Hennessey’s Joyce signs with UCO

Hennessey’s Dalton Joyce will continue his football career at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. He signed his National Letter of Intent in a ceremony Wednesday. Seated with him is his mother, Lark Joyce.

Marriage Licenses Kingfisher County Court Clerk Lisa Markus issued marriage licenses recently to the following couples: Jan. 30: Mark Edward Smith, 37, and Desiree Nicole Hart, 34, both of Hennessey. Jan. 30: Timothy Edgar Hyland, 23, of Oklahoma City, and Madison Marie York, 21, of Kingfisher.

Crash shuts down county blacktop

Calumet blacktop at the County Line intersection was shut down for more than five hours last Saturday after a crash involving two semi-trucks. James Howard Hicks, 51, of Foley, Ala.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: Jan. 15, 1:20 p.m. — Theft from vehicle. Officer Jason East took a report from Heather Briscoe-Perry concerning the theft of items from her vehicle while it was parked behind 220 N. Main Street.
