Just like last year, the Lomega boys and Hennessey girls are headed to the state cross country meet.

The Lomega girls are joining the fun this time around.

All three teams scored well enough last Saturday in their respective regional meets to make one last run this weekend.

The Hennessey Lady Eagles took fifth in a loaded regional field at their 3A regional at Oklahoma Bible Academy.

HHS scored 114 points in earning the automatic qualification for state.

The top seven teams from each regional advance to state.

Emma Sipe led the Lady Eagles as she placed eighth, running the 3,200 meter course in 13:14.56.

Tayler Franklin also medaled for the Lady Eagles as she crossed the line in 12th place.

The top 15 individuals earn medals at the regional. Jocelyn Matousek just missed a medal as she took 16th.

Hennessey was ranked sixth entering the meet.

Eighth-ranked Metro Christian was the regional champ with just 35 points. No. 3 Chisholm was the runner-up with 78 and No. 4 Alva third with 101.

Commerce, ranked 15th entering the meet, took fourth with 110 points.

No. 9 Prague finished one spot and 32 points below Hennessey.

Coach Cheyenne Baxter’s Lady Eagles have now reached state four consecutive years.

In 2A, the Lady Raiders also finished fifth in their regional on the same OBA course.

They return to state after missing out on qualifying last season.

Top-ranked and twotime defending champion Hooker was dominant in winning the regional title.

Hooker scored just 20 points as it had scoring placers finish from second through sixth place.

Fourth-ranked Laverne was the runner-up with 81 points.

Goodwell- Texhoma, ranked third, also finished third with 97 while No. 1 Fairview was fourth with 131 points.

Lomega was ranked 12th and scored 144. It was led by Claire Myers, who was 19th overall, but 14th among scoring runners.

She finished in 13:52.66. Kate Myers with 26th (16th) in 14:11.56.

Despite being ranked 27th in the class, the Lomega boys are back in the state field.

Lomega was the last qualifi er from the OBA regional with its seventh-place finish.

The Raiders tallied 191 points, edging Timberlake by seven points for the final spot.

Top-ranked Hooker won the meet with 23. Oklahoma Bible Academy, ranked sixth, was the runner-up with 78.

Senior Trevor Lentz paced the Raiders as he took 47th overall, which was 32nd among scoring runners.

He ran the 5 kilometer course in 20:29.31.

Austin Chestnut was 50th (34th), in 20:34.69 to also help lead Lomega.

The 2A boys race will also feature a pair of Cashion Wildcats.

Gage Bedick and Luke Baustert both reached state as individual qualifiers.

Both runners were also medalists in the regional.

Baustert was ninth as he finished in 18:17.03 Bedick’s time of 18:27.22 was good for 13th.

Baustert was third among individual qualifiers and Bedick fifth.
