Hinton won all but one of the contested matches last Tuesday to grab an easy dual win over Kingfisher.

The Comets took home a 57-8 victory from the APB.

“We’re very young and inexperienced,” said KHS co-head wrestling coach Stan Blundell.

“This was our first dual of the season, so we’ve still got a lot of experience to gain.”

Braxton Shellstrom defeated Thomas Strawther 4-3 in the heavyweight match to give KHS its lone victory on the mat.

The Jackets’ other points were a forfeit win for Christian Farrell at 106 pounds.

KHS was also deducted one team point at the end of the dual, knocking it back down to eight total points.

In between 106 and 285 pounds was a string of 10 wins at 12 weights.

The exceptions were double forfeits at 157 and 165 pounds.

The Comets got forfeit victories at 120, 126 and 150 pounds, meaning the Jackets didn’t have wrestlers at five of the weight classes.

“Hopefully we’ll get some guys at their right weights and get closer to a full team,” Blundell said.

The Jackets were pinned at 113, 138, 144, 175, 190 and 215 pounds.

Gant Browning went the distance at 132 pounds, but was outlasted 10-7 by Jagor Turner.

Hinton claimed a 21-6 victory in the girls’ dual.

The Jackets’ Mychaela Haynes pinned Kimberly Lara at 1:05 of their 155-pound match to give her team its only points.

Six of the weights saw double forfeits.

KHS also lost matches by falls at 115, 120 and 135 pounds.

Rylee Hamil went the distance with Layla Sweeney at 125 pounds, but ultimately was defeated 6-2.
