A pair of Kingfisher High School golfers didn’t just have to battle the course at the state tournament, but Mother Nature as well.

But at the end of the Class 3A tournament at Lake Murray Golf Course in Ardmore, Raegan Snider had tied for 11th individually and Kylie Hood 17th.

Snider shot a two-day total of 177 while Hood finished at 183.

The tournament teed off on Wednesday and golfers experienced not one, but two rain or lightning delays.

Ultimately it took eight hours to get the 18 holes played.

“And we were one of the first ones to finish,” coach Audra Smalley said.

A junior, Hood fired an 89 on the first day and sat tied for 14th.

Snider, a freshman, was one stroke back and tied for 18th.

Snider came back Thursday to shoot an 87.

Hood finished up with a 94.

Although Kingfisher’s team didn’t qualify for state, it did win some postseason hardware.

KHS was named the Class 3A academic state champion in girls golf.

Other team members are Mia Hartman, Merrin Evans and Kadyn Daugherty.

Marlow won the 3A team championship with a two-day total of 721, 14 strokes ahead of Christian Heritage.

Kingston’s Meredith Reid was the individual champion.

Her rounds of 83 and 73 gave her a two-day total of 156. That was three strokes ahead of Holland Hall’s Megan Kalapura and Prague’s Elle Standlee.
