Dover almost overcame a huge early deficit and redhot shooting by Garber.

Almost. The Wolverines snapped Dover’s five-game win streak by winning their own fifth straight game, 53-47.

The road win pushed Garber to 5-1 while Dover dropped to 7-4.

Brett Howry buried four 3-pointers and Colton Steinert two more in the first quarter alone as Garber raced to a 23-8 advantage.

But Dover began to claw back into it.

The Longhorns held Garber to just five points in the second quarter and pulled within 28-22 at the half.

Casen Buck and Nathan Cohee scored five points each in the third as the gap was narrowed to 39-36.

And Dover had multiple chances to tie it up in the fourth.

“We just couldn’t get that bucket we needed,” said coach Jared Reese. “We almost caught up, but couldn’t get over the hump.”

Garber, which made 14 3-pointers in the game, eventually outscored Dover 14-11 in the fourth.

The visitors were led by Steinert’s 23 while Howry finished with 15.

Buck led Dover with 16 and Lucas Conrady scored 10.

Dover also got nine from

Cohee and eight from Brennan Fletcher.
