Okarche pushed its win streak to six games and proved it could grab victories with both defense and offense.

The Lady Warriors downed Amber-Pocasset 34-21 on Friday and then ran past Strother 55-23 Saturday.

Both victories were road games as Okarche improved to 14-7.

Clinging to a three-point lead through three quarters, Okarche outscored the Lady Panthers 10-0 in the fourth.

Jadyn Rother and Ruby VanDenDriessche each had a field goal while freshman Katie Parham made all six of her free throw attempts.

Parham led the team with 13 points.

Rother scored eight while Harper White contributed seven for Okarche.

The points were nearly as hard to come by on Saturday, but the Lady Warrior defense remained just as stingy.

Rother and Payne combined for 19 points in the first quarter alone as the visitors took a 23-0 lead.

It was 35-2 by halftime.

Nine different Okarche players scored.

Rother got all 11 of her points in that first quarter.

White and Payne finished with eight apiece while Parham scored seven.

Tough Road Ahead for Boys

The Okarche boys cruised through a pair of road wins over the weekend as it prepares for likely its toughest week of the regular season.

The Warriors downed Amber-Pocasset 68-43 Friday and then won 65-24 at Strother on Saturday.

As a team, Okarche shot 50 percent at Am-Po as it steadily pulled away from the Panthers.

On top of making 11 3-pointers, the Warriors were 16 of 27 inside the arc.

Easton Roby made 8 of 10 two-point attempts and led the team with 20 points.

He was one of four Warriors in double figures.

Jett Mueggenborg scored 16 points.

Wyatt Pinkerton added 15 and Hunter Mueggenborg 10. Both had six assists apiece.

The Warriors weren’t nearly as efficient on Saturday, but dominated Strother with volume.

Okarche shot just 35 percent but attempted 77 field goals to just 31 for the host team.

That was due in large part to Okarche’s smothering defense, which forced 48 turnovers.

Jett Mueggenborg led the way with 22 points and nine steals.

Roby contributed 12 points.

Okarche was 18-2 with the victory.

Its final four regular season games, which will be played in an eight-day span, includes hosting undefeated Calumet - ranked No. 1 in Class B - on Tuesday and then a trip to Class 2A’s fourth-ranked Hennessey on Thursday.
