Snodgrass, Myers pace Jackets at conference meet
Kerri Lafferty called it “a really good day.”
The Kingfisher High School girls track and field team “ran lots of really good races” last Friday at the Western Athletic Conference Track and Field Meet at Weatherford.
The Lady Jackets set season-best times in several events in finishing behind the host school.
“We had a PR in just about every race,” said Lafferty.
That included Scout Snodgrass in the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run.
The freshman became conference champ in both events.
Her time of 1:00.87 is the fifth-fastest quarter- mile in 4A this year.
Snodgrass’ 2:24.91 in the 800 is fourth-best in the class.
Snodgrass was also on the mile and two-mile relay teams that earned bronze medals.
The two-mile group also saw Liberty Starr, Chesni Newkirk and Zaylynn Lopez handle the baton.
The mile relay team also had Emily Myers, Hanna Francis and Jaelin Cortes.
KHS had one other conference champion as freshman Abbie Myers won the 300 meter hurdles.
Harper Evans and Talor Mecklenburg also won medals.
Evans was third in the 3,200 meter run and Mecklenburg a bronze medalist in the 100 hurdles.
The 800 relay team of Hallie Barton, Emily Myers, Cortes and Francis was also third.
On the boys’ side, Cade Cooper took third in the 800 while Jud Birdwell tied for third in the high jump.
The KHS squads travel to Chisholm on Saturday for the Class 4A regional.
