Young named OCA Region I coach of the year

Kingfisher’s Taylor Young was voted by her peers as the Oklahoma Coaches Association Region 1 Coach of the Year for girls basketball.
In just her second season, Young guided the Lady Jackets to a second straight appearance in the Class 4A state basketball tournament.
KHS was 23-6 on the season and rose to as high as No. 4 in the rankings.
In two years, Young has amassed a 47-12 record. Prior to her arrival, the program hadn’t reached state since 2009.
Region 1 covers 18 counties in northwest Oklahoma: Kingfisher, Logan, Canadian, Blaine, Custer, Dewey, Ellis, Woodward, Beaver, Harper, Texas, Cimarron, Harper, Woods, Major, Alfalfa, Grant and Garfield.
