Burch is Hennessey town clerk

Shelley Burch was named town clerk by the Hennessey Board of Trustees during its Thursday evening, June12, board meeting.Burch, who is also the Town Hall office manager, court clerk and code enforcement officer, was in the audience as usual at this month’s meeting.

Following are reports that have been filed by the Hennessey Police Department:Vandalism/ Destruction of Property – Damages to two Town of Hennessey cement poles by an unknown driver Friday, April 18, caused estimated damages of $200. The incident occurred at about 12:41 p.m. near 101 W. Kansas St.

Marriage LicensesKingfisher County Court Clerk Lauren Stroh issued marriage licenses recently to the following couples: May 22: Luke Jackson Eichhorn, 23, and Laney Rose Gatlin, 21, both of Oklahoma City.

RCC spring honor rolls announced

Redlands Community College recently announced students named to the college’s honor rolls for the Spring 2025 semester.Students listed on the President’s Honor Roll have completed 12 or more credit hours and have earned a GPA of not less than 3.

Okarche highlights top students at awards assembly

The awards program for Okarche Junior High and Okarche High School was held on May 8 in which scholarships and other awards were announced.Alia Suanny, Student Council president, started the assembly with a welcome and flag salute.Class valedictorians and salutatorians were named.

Harvesters attempting to return to the fields

The 2025 wheat harvest made a tentative restart Monday in Kingfisher County.While some wheat was harvested the last of May, additional rains last week and over the weekend put an abrupt halt to harvesting operations due to muddy fields.The wheat is ready, but most fields are on the boggy side.

Teacher pay scale discussed by HPS board

Hennessey currently pays $1,200 a year more than the state-mandated teacher salaries as an incentive and for teacher retention, Superintendent Jason Sternberger told school board members Monday night during their June regular meeting.

County explores establishing jail trust

After a 45-minute executive (closed to the public) session Monday, Kingfisher County Board of County Commissioners took no action on a proposed jail trust for the county.An Enid attorney, David Henneke, met with the commissioners at the end of the regular meeting of the board behind closed doors.
