Additional rains have Cimarron River near flood stage

Much of Kingfisher County got another round of rain Thursday night and Friday morning and the amounts have the Cimarron River nearing flood stage.The overnight rain, which affected most of western Oklahoma, totaled 1.7 inches in Kingfisher and raised Kingfisher’s total rain for November to 6.

Kingfisher Winter Nights clarification

A previous story indicated Kingfisher Winter Nights will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25.The attraction at Kingfisher Park will be open both of those days. However, the train will not run on the two days.KWN will be open to drive-through and walkthrough traffic.The attraction opens Nov.

Okarche competes in state one-act play contest

The Okarche High School speech team took part in the OSSAA Class 4A state one-act competition in Choctaw last weekend.The team qualified for state by placing second at the regional.State comprised of nine different schools competing with their respective oneact plays.

Okarche First Baptist welcomes new youth minister

Okarche First Baptist Church recently welcomed a new youth minister and his family to its congregation. Ty Payne began serving in that role Oct. 1 and previously served in youth ministry for 13 years at El Reno First Baptist Church.

ELECTION RESULTS

Kingfisher County voters took to the polls Tuesday for the 2024 general election.Most notably, the election is to decide the presidential race, but there are several other races and issues on the ballot.Polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, which was after this edition went to press.
