I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain. . .

Just days after wildfires ravaged thousands of acres, nearly a dozen homes and destroyed other property in Kingfisher County, a drought-busting rain soaked it all.
ONE EXTREME TO THE NEXT – This patch of land is about seven miles east of Kingfi sher near the Big Four turnoff. In the middle of the week, it was burned by wildfi res after months of drought-like conditions. By the end of the week, it had standing water after several inches of rain fell in the county. Shimanek retirement party set this Saturday

A retirement party will be held for District 2 County Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Turkey Creek Golf Course clubhouse west of Hennessey.

Bid awarded for county’s annex demolition project

Kingfisher County commissioners awarded a contract to K&M Dirt Service for demolition and removal of the Kingfisher County Courthouse Annex Monday.K&M submitted the low bid of $75,600 to win the project.The next lowest bid of six submitted on the project was $87,000 by American Demolition.

Museum cast-iron cooking class this Saturday

The Chisholm in Kingfisher will host a cast-iron cooking class this Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m.Students will learn to care for and cook in castiron cookware in this casual, fun class.Participants will create a Dutch oven delight and participate in a group meal.
