Republican voters north of the Cimarron River have their candidate for the District 2 commissioner election.Mike Sparks won Tuesday’s primary vote as he defeated Austin Whittenburg 526-196.Sparks’ total was 72.85% of the 722 total votes cast.

Excellent county harvest all but complete

The Kingfisher County wheat harvest was in its final stages at mid-week.County elevator operators indicated the harvest was nearly all done.Randall Varnell, manager of Wheeler Brothers Grain in Kingfisher, said that only a few spots were left, commenting it was 99.9% complete.

Big 4 and Kingfisher native Dr. Randy Grellner won the Republican nod for the Senate District 21 seat in last Tuesday’s primary election.Grellner, who resides in Cushing, received 4,130 of the 5,184 votes cast.His 79.67% easily gave him the majority over two other candidates.

Hennessey town board members approve FY25 budget

The Town of Hennessey will start the 2024-25 fiscal year July 1 with an estimated combined budget of $8.541 million.That includes $4.117 million in anticipated income, and $4.331 million in expected carryover.That was discussed, then approved unanimously, by the board of trustees.

County commissioners table 6-month bids

Kingfisher County commissioners opened bids from 37 potential contractors for the upcoming six months at their weekly meeting last Monday.Final action on the bids was tabled so that county clerk staff can tabulate them, lowest to highest, for action at next week’s meeting.
