 After considering more than 40 candidates from across the nation, the Oklahoma Broadband Governing Board has voted unanimously to hire former Oklahoma State Representative Mike Sanders as executive director of the Oklahoma Broadband Office.

Local book club to meet Monday

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, March 27, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building, 117 W. Sheridan Ave., Kingfi sher.Dutch treat lunch is $10 and will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by a presentation by Tracy Deshazo, who will review “Orphan Train” by Christine Baker Kline.

Madeleine Pope of Loyal recently competed in the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts (OACD) state speech contest in Oklahoma City, taking secnd place in Division 1 (8th-10th grades). Pope, an eighth grader at Lomega, earlier placed fi rst at the OACD Area I contest to qualify for state.

Rotary Club hosts 4 KHS seniors

Four Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.Joining the local civic group were Mary Slofsky, Kiera Beecher, Kylee Lambert and Macy Harrison.Slofsky is the daughter of Jeff and Susannah Copeland.
