OAA funds available for area service groups

The Long Term Care Authority of Enid Area Agency on Aging announces the availability of Older Americans Act funds.The funds are for legally formed public, private or not-for-profit organizations in the counties of Alfalfa, Blaine, Garfield, Grant, Kay, Kingfisher, Major and Noble.

Oklahoma voters, including those in Kingfisher County, will go to the polls Tuesday, March 7, to decide the fate of legalized recreational marijuana.The initiative made it to the ballot after more than 160,000 signatures were collected last year.

High winds buffeted Kingfisher County Sunday night and early Monday while tornadoes were reported across other areas of the state.Some trees were damaged by the wind, but no reports of injury or serious property damage came to the county emergency management center.

Five members of the Okarche speech team traveled to Shattuck and won the second-place sweepstakes trophy at the Shattuck Invitational Speech Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 25.Every OHS student competing won at least one medal.Hunter Buck was second in prose and a finalist in domestic extemp.

County approves Hennessey FD bids

Kingfisher County commissioners approved a bid for remodeling the Hennessey Fire Department Monday on the recommendation of Assistant Fire Chief James Matousek, who led a delegation of department members to the commission’s weekly meeting.
