The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:October 7 - Public intoxication. Officer Christopher McDaniel responded to a report of a suspected intoxicated individual “passed out” in the front yard of a residence in the 1100 block of South Ninth Street.

Kingfisher’s downtown holiday season begins in the usual way next Sunday with a little bit of Thanksgiving and a whole lot of Christmas.With the help of Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce, downtown merchants and restaurants are hosting their annual Holiday Open House beginning at noon Sunday.

Kingfisher County commissioners voted Monday to appoint Carrie Turner as interim county assessor.Turner, who’s worked the past two years as a deputy purchasing agent for the county clerk’s office, succeeds former county assessor Carolyn Mulherin, who died Oct. 23 due to complications of COVID-19.

Rusty Sanders of Kingfisher, a longtime local funeral service owner and operator and active community volunteer, died Friday, Oct. 29, at age 82.Sanders was born and raised in Marland and joined the U.S.

Both of Kingfisher FFA’s leadership development events (LDE) teams proved to be among the best in the country.Winners of the National FFA parliamentary procedure and conduct of chapter meetings LDE’s were announced last Friday.In both, Kingfisher was among the 12 Gold Emblem teams to be honored.

OCTOBER’S TOP STUDENTS – Kingfisher Middle School Principal Keith Campbell has announced the school’s Students of the Month for October 2021. Earning the honor were, from left: Lane Kirtley, fifth grade; Dania Garcia, sixth grade; Naomi Garcia, seventh grade; and Jackson Willbanks, eighth grade.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University celebrated its homecoming Oct. 30, and winners of the various competitions have been announced by the university.That included a competition that featured 18 bands from numerous area high schools marching in the homecoming parade.
