COVID issues affect local teams’ events

Kingfisher’s basketball games at Blanchard scheduled last Tuesday were postponed.Blanchard reported multiple COVID-19 issues.The games are now slated Feb. 10.Issues also affected wrestling this weekend.Kingfisher was set to host the Western Conference Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Lomega’s bid to repeat as Warrior Classic champion fell short in the finals.A massive second quarter by Sentinel helped the Bulldogs earn a 71-54 victory in Saturday’s championship game.The Bulldogs turned a seven-point deficit into a double-digit lead by scoring 29 points in the second quarter.

Browning takes 6th at Cushing

Gant Browning was Kingfisher’s lone placer and scored half of the team’s points at last weekend’s Cushing Tiger Invitational wrestling tournament.Browning took sixth at 113 pounds after being edged by Cushing’s Iziah Tusler, 4-2, in the fifthplace match.

What’s old was new again at the Three Rivers Conference Tournament.The Okarche girls and Cashion boys brought home championship trophies Saturday night from the Stride Bank Center in Enid.Both were No. 1 seeds and experienced a bit of deja vu with the championship victories.
