Daxx Compton’s first two - and only two - atbats of the season opener were fairly productive on Monday.

The Dover junior belted a grand slam in the first inning and a solo shot in the second to help lead the Longhorns to a 17-1 win at home against Frontier in their season opener.

The game went just three innings as Dover easily picked up the run rule win.

Compton’s first-inning blast was part of a nine-run frame.

Two batters prior to him in the second frame, A.J. Avila sent a Mustang offering over the left field wall for a two-run homer.

Compton and Brok Cooper each had two hits for Dover.

Avila got the win as he pitched three innings, gave up three hits, struck out six and allowed an unearned run.

Okarche gets sweep over Am-Po, L-S

The reigning Class A fall (and spring) state champs picked up where they left off last year.

Okarche opened its season Monday by sweeping Amber-Pocasset and Lookeba- Sickles at home.

Four pitchers combined to allow just two hits in the opener as the Warriors thumped L-S 7-1.

The offense started early with four runs in the first inning - three of them by consecutive extra-base hits off the bats of Jake Henderson, Jett Yost and Grady Terrell.

The first two were doubles while Terrell slapped a triple and each produced an RBI.

Terrell finished the game 3 for 3 while Henderson was 2 for 3 and Court Sumrall also had two hits for the Warriors.

Cooper Anderson drove in two runs.

Yost pitched the first three innings and didn’t give up a hit.

Grady Rother went the next two frames while Jake Kroener and Jagg Mueggenborg had one inning of work each.

Combined those four struck out six and walked four.

The Warriors scored all of their runs in the 6-1 win over Am-Po in the first two frames.

That included a two-run shot to left field by Henderson in the bottom of the first inning.

Henderson added an RBI double in the second while Yost brought home two runs with his double.

Canon Rother joined Henderson in delivering two hits.

Terrell went four solid innings for the win.

He surrendered a pair of hits and struck out three.

Cooper Anderson followed with two innings while Henderson struck out the side in the seventh.

The trio of pitchers had seven strikeouts overall.
