Graduation dates listed for county high schools

Hennessey High School’s Class of 2021 was the first to collect diplomas this year, with a graduation ceremony last Saturday at the Eagle Event Center. Graduation and baccalaureate ceremonies for other county schools include: KINGFISHER • Baccalaureate – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, Lifeway Church.

Hennessey High School graduate Don Smith and former elementary teacher Jewel Babiak were inducted into the 2021 Hennessey High School Hall of Fame Sun., May 9. The ceremony was held during the school’s senior graduation program at The Dome.

A Welcome Downward Trend

Active Covid-19 cases dropped by 29 in Kingfisher County over the past week. Kingfisher City-County Emergency Manager Steve Loftis reported fewer cases in every community in the county except Omega, which had no cases prior to last week.

HPS OKs early start for Sternberger

Jason Sternberger will start work at the Hennessey Public Schools earlier than planned. Instead of a July 1 start date as superintendent, he’ll go on the payroll May 24- June 30 as co-superintendent with retiring Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods.
