Six games. Four-hundred-fifty-four pitches. That’s what the Kingfisher High School softball team - and pitching staff - managed Saturday while nearly pulling off an improbable tournament championship.

Kamas continues surge up national ranks

The latest round of Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings has seen the Maddi Kamas star continue to brighten on the national scale. The Kingfisher High School senior was tabbed 37th in the nation when the rankings were released Monday.

Highway 33 Classic starts Thursday

The annual Highway 33 Classic softball tournament in Kingfisher will take on a new format this year, but will still crown a champion when its finished. The three-day tournament begins Thursday and will feature games on both of Kingfisher’s fields throughout.

Football teams scrimmaging Thursday, Friday

Football season is just over a week away for some of the state’s teams and this week will be the first and only scrimmage action those teams will see. All four local football schools are scheduled to have their first scrimmages of 2020 this week.

COVID-19 Risk Level: Back to orange

Kingfisher County’s COVID-19 alert risk was upgraded Friday to moderate, after the number of new daily cases climbed slightly over the last seven days. With a daily average of new cases now at 16.31 per 100,000 population, the county joins 27 others in the “orange” category.
