Kingfisher FFA’s ag issues team made a presentation last week to the Kingfisher Lions Club. Members discussed the pros and cons of “super meats,” which are grown directly from cells in labs. Marketed as being sustainable and animal-friendly, these meats are already in some Asian markets and restaurants, according to the presentation. It’s projected they could reach the U.S. as early as 2023, members said. Making the presentation were, from left, Kylie Hood, Mayce Gibson, Leyla Avila, Mia Hartman, Natalie Garrett and James Perdue. The ag issues team will compete April 23 in the state competition. The group’s advisor is Megan Thormodsgard. IKT&FP Staff Photo]
