In 1954, President Eisenhower signed into law the words “under God” should be added to the Pledge of Allegiance. NBC took a poll as to whether “under God” should remain in the pledge. Eight-six percent said it should remain and 14 percent said it should be removed.

School supply drive starting

Nothing says first day of school like a new backpack loaded with fresh crayons and a fully-loaded pencil box, but those upfront expenses are a burden some financially-strapped families aren’t able to bear.

It’s Up to Voters, Now

The fate of a new school building for a system swelling in enrollment numbers will be in the hands of voters in the Kingfisher Public School district later this year.

County opens bids for District 1 loader

Three bids were opened on a 2015 or newer rubber wheel loader for District 1 and then tabled for further study at Monday’s Kingfisher County Commission meeting. Bids included: Cummins Equipment Co., $168,500; O.C.T. Equipment, $185,000, and Yellowhouse Equipment, $163,489.

Airport board, city talk funding issues

Kingfisher city commissioners voted Monday night to renew a five-year lease with the Kingfisher Airport Authority for the municipal airport but refused the authority’s request for additional funds for cosmetic improvements for aging hangars.
