Hennessey Board of Education members routinely voted to make application to the Kingfisher County Excise Board for $9.12 million in temporary appropriations to start the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The Kingfisher Lions Club installed its new officers at last week’s meeting.The new officers are Josh Lippoldt, president; Blair Coughlan, vice president; Annette Parham, second vice president; Karen Hauser, secretary; Randall Newton, treasurer; Mike Combs, lion tamer and Zack Meyer, tail twister.

Hennessey’s 2019-20 municipal budget for the new fiscal year that starts July 1 is $8.315 million compared with the current budget of $7.518 million. The new budget was approved by the Hennessey Board of Trustees and Utilities Authority at its June 10 regularly monthly meeting.

One Kingfisher resident was named on Oklahoma Baptist University’s academic honor roll for the Spring 2019 semester. The Dean’s List included Aniessa Courtney Edsall, a K-12 health and physical education major.

A local man was found dead last Sunday from an apparently self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head, according to a Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office report. Deputy Kyle Svoboda was dispatched to a home near Lake Elmer northwest of Kingfisher about 11:22 a.m. Sunday, according to the report.

The board of Kingfisher County commissioners is investigating a service that could speed up construction of buildings in rural areas.

The Hennessey Public Library building will get $13,500 in silicone roof coating, tape and patch seam repairs instead of about $70,000 for a new roof and repairs for interior leaks.
