Audra Smalley can noticeably see the improvement in her girls golf team and expects more to be on the way. Kingfisher High School placed second Monday at the Patsy Poole Invitational in Elk City. The team’s 378 was 16 strokes better than its previous tournament in Oklahoma City.

Kingfisher’s bats were nearly unstoppable at last weekend’s I-40 Classic, but got little more than wins to show for it. KHS went unbeaten in pool play as it picked up wins against Clinton and Elk City on Thursday and then Leedey and Shattuck on Friday.

After Ian Daugherty was able to pitch himself out of a jam, Kingfisher’s bats finally came alive. The result was the seventh straight win for the Yellowjacket baseball team Monday as it improved to 5-0 in District 4A-2 with an 8-0 win against Newcastle at Homier Field.

Cashion goes BOOM Cashion is a town on the move, thanks at least in part to the Kingfisher County oil boom in the STACK. Anita Robinson, owner of Gateway Realty at Cashion, says at this point there are more inquiries from people wanting to move into Cashion than there are homes available to buy.

Tuesday will be election day in Kingfisher County. Municipal and school district positions will be up for election. Polling will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at normal precinct polling places. Additionally townhall meetings will be held at Loyal (6 p.m.) and Cashion (7 p.m.

The privately-owned Orr Construction Inc. oilfield business located at Hennessey’s 1145 S. Main St. wants to expand its business east to Mitchell Road. To do that, it needs 43.74 acres rezoned from general agriculture to general industrial.

Outreach was the message Debbie Burpo delivered to Kingfisher Rotarians last Tuesday as their guest speaker. The senior pastor at Frontline Ministries laid out a number of different outreach programs in which her church heads up or takes part.
