Owen Lafferty

Owen Lafferty, 81, a principal in Wheeler Brothers Grain Co. and the father of Austin Lafferty of Kingfisher, died March 17, 2019, in Oklahoma City. A memorial service was held March 23 at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. He was born July 20, 1937, in Tulsa to Albert and Rosalie Lafferty.

Jay Wood voted into OGBCA Hall of Fame

Jay Wood has been selected for one of the top honors in his profession. The former Kingfisher High School girls basketball coach will be inducted into the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, it was announced last week after the general meeting of the OGBCA.

Kingfisher hosting Edward Jones Invitational baseball

Kingfisher’s Homier Field will be the host site for one-half of the Edward Jones Invitational baseball tournament to be played Thursday-Saturday. The Jackets are a part of Pool A and have one game Thursday and two Friday before matching up with a team from Pool B on Saturday.
