KHS names January Students of the Month

Kingfisher High School has announced its Students of the Month for January 2019. Selected by the teachers were freshman Konner Baartman, sophomore Nathan Smalley, junior Ashtin Witt and senior Emma Wood. Baartman is the son of Jeremiah and Angel Baartman. He is on the Oklahoma Honor Society.

HHS Leadership team approved for park project

After 30 minutes of discussion, the Hennessey Board of Trustees on Monday approved a project to revitalize the Pat Hennessey Park on Arapaho Street in the northwest section of town.

Theta Chapter of DKG has busy February meeting

Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International met at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Kingfisher Public Library. Delta Kappa Gamma is a society for key women educators and was founded May 11, 1929, by 12 women educators in Austin, Texas.

Hennessey school board votes to rehire superintendent, principals

All four Hennessey Public School administrators were rehired last Monday night after a  two-hour executive session. Rehired are Supt. Dr. Mike Woods; high and middle school principal Angela Avila; elementary school principal Barry Crosswhite, and early-childhood principal Stacey (Lee) Schovanec.

State AG: Beware of SSA scammers

Attorney General Mike Hunter last week warned Oklahomans to be aware of phone calls from scam artists claiming to be with the Social Security Administration (SSA) and attempting to steal social security numbers and money.
