Offense, defense and special teams contributed to the final score as Hennessey got back in the win column.

The Eagles returned from their week off with a balanced attack in a 47-0 win over Crooked Oak in Oklahoma City.

Seth Gonzalez passed for three scores, Keigen Crites ran for two touchdowns and Hennessey’s other two units also found the end zone.

An Eagle defense that allowed just 27 total yards put six points on the board when Abdiel Regalado scooped up a fumble that was forced by Gunner Carthel and returned it 7 yards for a touchdown.

That score, with 4:21 left in the first half, gave the Eagles a 33-0 lead.

Crites made it 40-0 at the break when he scored his second TD of the night, this one a 41-yard scamper with 1:17 left in the second quarter.

Neither offense scored the rest of the night as Hennessey took the foot off the gas pedal.

However, the Eagles landed one more touchdown when West Smith blocked a Ruf Nex punt in the third quarter.

That allowed Seth Simunek to pick it up and run 18 yards into the end zone.

Hennessey’s offense was balanced and effective with its first-half attack.

Gonzalez was 8 of 11 for 144 yards.

He had touchdown passes of 49 yards in the first quarter to Simunek and then 47 and 7 yards to Smith in the second quarter.

Smith ended his day with four catches for 71 yards.

Crites needed just five carries to tally 110 yards.

He also had a 37-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Juan Castanon added four rushes for 36 yards.

As a team, Hennessey averaged 15.1 yards per carry.

Crooked Oak had no answer.

The Ruf Nex managed 38 net yards on 23 rushing attempts and their six completions went for negative yardage.

Carthel also recovered a fumble while Castanon led the defense with nine tackles.

Regalado added eight tackles.

Hennessey (2-1) begins its District 2A-1 journey this week by hosting Perry (1-2), the first of two straight home games.

The teams didn’t play last season as Hennessey was in the midst of a COVID-19 quarantine.
