Crescent manages split in road games with Dover

After a pair of single-digit losses to start the season, Crescent grabbed its first win.

The Tigers shut down Dover’s offense Friday to earn a 49-17 road victory.

Dover couldn’t manage more than six points in any quarter and was held scoreless in the fourth.

The Longhorns got 14 points from Kolten Shaw, but the rest of the team offered just one field goal of support.

Meanwhile, Kade Varner was red-hot from 3-point range.

Varner made three first-quarter 3-pointers and five for the game as he scored 17 points.

Crescent was up 27-11 at halftime. Dover kept it a 16-point game in the third, but couldn’t score in the fourth.

Ethan Ryans added 10 more for the Tigers, who are now 1-2.

Dover dropped 2-5 with its second straight defeat.

Lady Longhorns pull away from Crescent

Joi Caldwell and Karlee McNulty had big offensive nights as the Dover Lady Longhorns got back on the winning track.

The duo combined for 25 points Friday as Dover held off visiting Crescent 38-24.

The bulk of Dover’s lead was built in the first quarter when it got out to a 14-5 advantage.

Yareli Obeso and Rylee Buck combined for eight points in that quarter.

McNulty took charge in the third when she netted six of Dover’s eight points.

Caldwell came through with five points in the final frame as the Lady Longhorns put the game away.

McNulty ended her night with 13 points. Caldwell scored 10.

The win moved Dover to 4-3.

Crescent dropped to 0-3. The Lady Tigers were led by Cassidy Noonan as she came off the bench to score eight points.
