Owen Duffy is a regional champion and will have a chance to add to his stellar postseason in four different state events.

Duffy won the 200 meter dash Saturday at the Class A regional track and field meet at Cherokee High School.

That made him an automatic qualifier for this week’s state meet at Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City.

The Lomega senior was also an automatic qualifier in the 100 meter dash as well as the 1,600 meter relay.

He took third in the 100 and was joined by Jesse-James Johnston, Brooks Uhlenhake and Blake Snowden to take second in the mile relay.

The top three placers in each event automatically qualify for state.

The next four best showings from all of the regionals make the state field as additional qualifiers.

That was the case for Duffy in the long jump, where he placed fourth. His leap of 19 feet, 10 inches qualified him for state.

He helped Lomega to 44 team points, which tied the Raiders for sixth with Tipton.

Timberlake cruised to the team title with 142 points. Pond Creek-Hunter was the regional runner-up with 64.

The Raiders’ 3,200 meter relay team of Uhlenhake, Johnston, Logan Zielinksi and Austin Chestnut also took fourth, but was able to reach state as an additional qualifier.

The Lomega girls team scored 35 points to place eighth.

The Lady Raiders had a pair of regional runners-up.

Hallie Barton took second in the 100 meter dash. Aubree Geisler did the same in the two-mile run.

Both made their way into other events.

Barton was sixth in the 200, but her time placed her in the state tournament field.

She was also on the 800 relay team along with Abby Swart, Darcy Roberts and Allie Roberts that placed fifth, but was added as a qualifier.

The two-mile relay team of Monse Rivera, Kate Myers, Madi Myers and Geisler was an additional qualifier after taking fifth.

Rivera, Kate Myers, Madi Myers and Darcy Roberts were fourth in the mile relay and locked up a spot at state with their time.
