Jackets land 3 on all-district squad

Kingfisher High School had three players listed when District 3A-1 football honors were recently announced.

Named to the all-district team were Alan Muñoz, Grayson Bromlow and Slade Snodgrass.

Muñoz was named as a running back.

He ran for 716 yards on 113 attempts (6.34 yards a carry) and scored eight touchdowns. Muñoz was third on the team with 52 tackles as a linebacker.

Muñoz also served as the team’s kicker and punter.

He was 24 of 32 on extra-point attempts and 3 for 6 on field goal attempts. Two of his field goals proved to be game winners for KHS.

Muñoz averaged 35.0 yards per punt.

Bromlow was a two-way starter for KHS up front.

He earned all-district honors as a defensive lineman.

He collected 36 tackles, including one for a loss, on the season and recovered a fumble.

Snodgrass earned his honor as a linebacker.

He led the team with 83 tackles, 45 of which were solo stops.

Snodgrass had teamhighs of four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

On top of that, Snodgrass led the team with 28 receptions and 485 yards on offense. He had six receiving touchdowns.

Snodgrass also was thrust into the starting quarterback position for four games.

He attempted just 15 passes, but was second on the team with 458 rushing yards on 101 attempts (4.53 per carry).

Snodgrass scored five rushing TDs.

Heritage Hall’s Gavin Freeman was named the district’s most valuable player.

A Texas Tech commit, Freeman helped lead the Chargers to the district title with a 7-0 record in those games.

He caught 74 passes for 1,438 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season. He added nearly 700 yards in kickoff and punt returns and accounted for 173.8 all-purpose yards a game.

Perkins-Tryon quarterback Gunnar Thrash and Heritage Hall quarterback Will Paque were named co-offensive MVPs.

Charger lineman Gavin Wilson and Bridge Creek’s Logan James shared defensive MVP honors.

Mount St. Mary’s Jaxyn Ward was the special teams player of the year.

Coach of the year honors went to Perkins-Tryon’s Dawayne Hudson.

His Demons went 6-1 in the district to finish runner-up behind Heritage Hall.
