KHS sophomore Browning defeated in state match

Kingfisher’s Gant Browning dropped his lone match at the state wrestling tournament.

The sophomore was downed 8-2 by Vinita’s Mark Webb in their wrestle-in match in the 113-pound bracket in Class 3A.

Webb’s win put him in the main bracket where he was defeated by Checotah’s Colt Collett, who went on to claim the 113-pound championship.

Marlow won the 3A team championship with 129 points, edging Blackwell’s 126. Jay was third with 119.

Browning, who also qualified for state as a freshman, finished his year with a 25-12 record.
