Luther pulled a Lomega on Lomega.

The Lady Lions hammered Lomega with a barrage of points early on and the Lady Raiders never recovered Saturday in a 67-47 loss at the Skordle Basketball Festival at Enid High School.

The seventh-ranked team in Class 3A, Luther torched the nets for 35 points in the first quarter and led by 26.

“Needless to say that’s the worst defense we’ve ever played,” said Lomega coach Kevin Lewallen, whose Lady Raiders dropped to 17-4.

Luther made six 3-pointers in the game, five in that first quarter.

Halyn Browning and Addison Harris made two apiece.

Browning scored 10 in the quarter while Savannah Nunley added eight more.

Lomega - normally the team administering the early onslaught of scoring - never recovered, though the Lady Raiders did close the gap in the second half by outscoring Luther 30-22.

Nunley led all scorers with 24 points for Luther. Browning scored 14 and Harris 10.

Darcy Roberts scored 13 to lead Lomega.

Abby Swart added nine and Sydni Walker eight.

The loss came one day after Lomega won 78-33 at Timberlake.

The Lady Raiders scored 27 points in each of the first two quarters and led by 41 points at halftime.

Hensley Eaton scored all 13 of her points in the first quarter.

Swart added 12 and Roberts 11.

Lions grab sweep with boys win

Luther had just a bit more firepower than Lomega and ended the Raiders’ three-game win streak.

The Lions outscored Lomega in each of the first three quarters Saturday at the Skordle Basketball Festival in Enid. They turned it into an eventual 65-50 win.

Lomega mostly kept pace early as it trailed 18-14 after a quarter.

However, Luther gradually built on that lead and was up by 17 after three quarters.

Blake Snowden and Owen Duffy scored 12 points apiece to lead the Raiders.

Lomega used a big second quarter Friday to help push it to a 57-47 win at Timberlake.

Trailing by a point after the first, the Raiders went on a 19-6 run to build its lead.

Snowden knocked down three 3-pointers in the second while Ben Marsh added seven more points.

Snowden scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the first half.

He added five more in the fourth, including going 3 for 4 from the foul line.

Marsh finished with 13 while Kelby Ott scored 12.

Lomega made 10 3-pointers in the game – five by Snowden and four from Ott.

They helped offset a 22-point night from Timberlake’s Merric Judd.

The Raiders ended the weekend with a 14-7 overall record.
