While several schools were taking a step back from their basketball seasons over the weekend, the Cashion girls used the time to regain some steam.

It was time well spent.

The Lady Wildcats snapped a three-game losing streak and went 3-0 over a three-day stretch.

It was capped Monday night with a 53-50 home win against 5A’s 17th ranked Bishop McGuinness.

“We’re starting to come around and play better,” coach Andrea Taylor said after her team evened up its record at 6-6.

The weekend also included a 63-36 home win over Wellston on Friday followed by a 63-45 victory Saturday at Wellston.

Cashion led Bishop Mc-Guiness by double digits late in the fourth and went up 53-45 with 20 seconds to play after Lauren Jenkins made two free throws.

The Irish hit a couple of late shots, but not enough to close the gap.

Lauren Lamb notched 25 points for Cashion and also hit a pair of free throws in the final minute.

Jenkins ended her night with 11 points while Brook Shelly scored seven.

Three players scored in double figures and a fourth just missed it on Saturday.

Shelly poured in 18 points and Megan Shafer 14 to lead the win.

Cashion outscored its hosts in every quarter and led 35-23 at halftime.

Jenkins added 11 points while Sydney Owens scored nine.

Against Wellston, Cashion used dominant second and fourth quarters to win.

Up two after the first, Cashion went on an 18-6 run in the second.

The lead remained 14 entering the fourth when the Lady Wildcats closed with an 18-5 spurt.

Lamb led all scorers with 21 points.

Shafer scored 12 and Shelly 11 while Jenkins added nine.
