Elks DAP Winners

One of the biggest initiatives of the Elks is its Drug Awareness Program (DAP). The largest volunteer program of its kind in the United States, it strives to teach children and parents about the dangers of illegal drug use and prevent the abuse of legalized and prescription drugs.

KHS seniors accept over $1.2 million in scholarships

Kingfisher High School’s senior class was offered nearly $4.5 million in scholarships and awards this year.The KHS Class of 2025 graduated 91 seniors at a ceremony on May 17.Prior to that, a senior awards ceremony was held in which scholarships and other awards were announced.

State senate confirms Deatherage for OSBE

Ryan Deatherage is now officially a member of the Oklahoma State Board of Education.Though the Kingfisher County Emergency Management director has been attending OSBE meetings since being appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt in mid-February, he still had to go through the confirmation process.

Rain pushes back harvest

Locally heavy mid-week rains likely pushed back the start of wheat harvest season for a few more days.While the official Kingfisher report showed .74 inch Thursday at the Mesonet site on the Mueggenborg farm and a total of 1.

Storms bring decent amounts of rainfall, small doses of hail

Rain fell across Kingfisher County over the weekend, possibly delaying the start of wheat harvest for a few days.There were even some reports of small hail.Kingfisher Weather Observer Steven Loftis recorded a total of 2.68 inches at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher.

Local traffic accidents

The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department:April 28, 5:18 p.m. – At 300 block of East Broadway. — Neal Bosscawen, 45, Sharon, driving a 2020 Peterbilt semi-truck, was eastbound on East Broadway (S.H. 33) and his cargo struck the underpass.
