Excise board members gather to fulfill important duties

The members of the Kingfisher County Excise- Equalization Board and Board of Tax Roll Corrections met Wednesday on their assigned jobs at the courthouse in Kingfisher.The two boards are among three unelected boards that contribute to the operation of the county.

Gray officially named new police chief

The “interim” tag can be removed from Travis Gray’s title.Kingfisher city commissioners on Monday voted unanimously to approve Gray as the new chief of the Kingfisher Police Department.Gray had been serving as interim chief since May when then-Chief David Catron retired.

County signs off on $37.7M budget

Kingfisher County commissioners signed copies of the county’s 2024-25 fiscal year budget, totaling $37,657,601.54 Monday at their weekly meeting.Last year’s county budget totaled $28,592,876.52.John Storm of Storm and Hauser, CPA’s, attended the meeting, bringing the budget documents.

The Kingfisher High School parking lot is going to have a decidedly more artistic look this year. The school announced late last month that this year’s senior class members had the option to purchase a parking spot in the lot directly west of the high school.

Rain fell across much of Kingfisher County over the weekend with 5.3 inches the heaviest amount reported.Showers, accompanied by cooler weather, started the weekend relief on Saturday and thunderstorms early Sunday provided the icing on the cake with heavier downpours.

The Hennessey Farmerettes OHCE Club met Aug. 8 for its monthly meeting in the home of DeDee Krueger.The meeting was opened by President Pansy Wheeler and the flag salute was led by Kathy Patocka.Mary Curry gave the devotion - “Legacy of Prayer.”Roll call was answered by 10 members.

Kool Cars and Chrome winners announced

The entry owned by Edmond’s Mike Byer was the big winner at Kingfisher’s recent car show.Byer’s 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe was named “Best of Show” at the 2024 Kool Cars and Chrome show held Aug. 3 in the Interbank parking lot.The event was hosted by the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce.
