The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry has selected 15 high school seniors from across Oklahoma to serve on the 2024-25 Oklahoma Agriculture Youth Council.Among them is Kate Myers, who will be a senior next fall at Lomega High School.

School’s insurance premium jumps 10 percent

The good news is property values for Kingfisher Public Schools continues to climb.Unfortunately, that also plays a major role in the district’s insurance premium.Kingfisher Board of Education members voted last Monday to renew the district’s insurance coverage with Oklahoma Schools Insurance Group.

OSU Extension hosts babysitting workshop

The Kingfisher County OSU Extension Office hosted a “Babysitter’s Workshop” May 29 at the Kingfi sher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building.The workshop was offered to youth across Kingfi sher County ages 9 and up.There were 17 youth who participated in the workshop.

Local golfers continue to contribute to local causes.The Kingfisher Golf Association held its ninth annual Benefit Golf Tournament last month to raise funds for selected groups.This year’s benefactors were Kingfisher Meals on Wheels and the Kingfisher Community Collaborative.

Following are reports recently submitted by the Hennessey Police Department:Panic Alarm – Detective Brad Logan was advised Wednesday, April 24, at 5:27 p.m. by county dispatch that a panic alarm was activated at Casey’s (120 N. Main St.).

Harvest tries to pick up; rain tries to slow it

Frequent showers over the past week stalled wheat harvest operations in Kingfi sher County.However clearing skies and warmer weather changed the picture on Wednesday and Thursday.Local elevators began receiving wheat Wednesday after skies cleared and grain fields dried out.
