Hennessey mayor announces resignation

Mayor Clif Vogt announced he’d be “stepping down” as a member of Hennessey Board of Trustees & Utilities Authorities right before the closing of the Tuesday, May 14, meeting at Town Hall.His resignation will be effective June 30.“That’s also the end of the (2023-24) fiscal year,” he said.

City passes utililty rate increases

The Kingfisher City Commission approved ordinances last Monday to increase utility rates for electricity, water and sewer during its May regular meeting.Mayor Geoff Covalt and commissioners Dawn Taylor, Debbie Burpo, Kyle Mecklenburg and Jeff Wittrock were all present for the meeting.

Assistant Police Chief Travis Gray has a new title, one that may only be temporary.Gray was named the interim chief of the Kingfisher Police Department earlier this month.That move came after Chief David Catron quietly retired with his last day on the force being May 10.

Hennessey town board OKs fireworks, trailer purchases

Hennessey Board of Trustees had an unusually short agenda during their Tuesday, May 14 ,meeting.They were able to make quick work of two out of three items.The quickest vote was the purchase of $7,561.87 in fireworks for the town’s annual July 4 display.
