DRIVER’S ED 2021

Two dozen students have been taking part this summer in driver’s education classes and instruction. Students completed 30 classroom hours, which included a presentation from Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers Lane Gossen, Sammy Lee and Jeff Jech (pictured below).

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: June 7 - Malicious injury/destruction of property. Officer Christopher McDaniel responded to a report of property damage in the 200 block of South Sixth Street.

KPS board to make several hires Tuesday

As many as nine new full-time staff members could be hired when the Kingfisher Board of Education holds its final meeting of the fiscal year. The board will gather Tuesday as it wraps up the 2020-21 fiscal year. On the agenda are several bookkeeping items, but also a plethora of hires.

The Hennessey Police Department recently issued the following citations: Speeding 16-20 mph Over Limit ($227 fine), Improper Passing ($197), Failure to Stop at Stop Sign ($197), Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle ($265) and Expired Driver License ($146) — Karla J. Bullock, Hennessey.

Sales tax collections trending up in county

Sales tax figures provided a reason for optimism in Kingfisher County, according to the June distribution announced by the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Several area towns showed nice increases, including Hennessey, El Reno, Guthrie, Piedmont, Geary, Marshall as well as Kingfisher County.
