Kingfisher Public School’s STARS project, the before- and after-school and summertime enrichment program that has received statewide recognition, has been refunded for a third consecutive five-year cycle.

The first day of school for Hennessey Public School students this fall is Thursday, Aug. 12. That’s a week later than usual and the school year will end a week later. The last day of school will be Friday, May 13, and graduation for the HHS Class of 2022 will be Saturday, May 14.

Pressley Page is the daughter of Brady and Lindsey Page of Kingfisher. She is 7 years old and will be in the first grade this fall. Pressley loves going on walks with her family and making crafts at home while listening to “Happy Anywhere” by Blake Shelton.

Beckam Black is the son of Greg and Niki Black of Kingfisher. He is 5 years old and will be in kindergarten this fall. When he grows up he wants to be a truck driver. Beckam loves to play basketball outside and build with Legos at home.

Cashion is once again planning a large Independence Day celebration. The town’s third annual Boom Fest will be held Friday, July 2, at Ben Kates Memorial Park just west of Cashion. Festivities are planned from 6-10 p.m.

Officers and board members of the Kingfisher County Retired Educators Association (KCREA) met this summer in the home of Donna Jech to work on plans for the coming year. All retired educators and support personnel are welcome and encouraged to join the association.

Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International met at the home of Cynthia Eaton for its yearend social and installation of officers at 6 p.m. Monday, June 7. The Social Committee furnished the meal consisting of a Mexican menu.
