Kingfisher is hosting annual cross country meet Saturday

Kingfisher will host its annual cross country meet this weekend.The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 30, and will take place west of the football field.Coach Stefan Seifried said he hopes for 14 to 16 teams to compete here.The high school boys will run first at 8:30 a.m.

KHS walk-off win delivers Highway 33 title

It was another step in a positive direction for the Kingfisher softball program last weekend.A wild final play saw Kendall Farrar score from second base on Saturday to give KHS a 5-4 walkoff victory over Newcastle in the Highway 33 Classic Tournament.

It wasn’t deja vu, but it was close.Okarche got a pair of wins early last week against a pair of perennial contenders in their respective classes.And it was a pair of familiar foes.Okarche downed Fort Cobb-Broxton 5-3 at home on Monday, then traveled to Dale on Tuesday and prevailed 5-4.

Longhorns capture fourth straight win

Dover dominated from the second inning on to pick up its fourth straight win.The Longhorns traveled to Frontier on Tuesday and brought home a 12-3 victory.After the game was tied 2-2 through one inning of play, the visitors rattled off 10 unanswered runs in the five-inning run-rule.

Three straight wins capped a successful run for the host team last weekend in the Dover Festival.After dropping their first game to Ripley on Thursday, Dover rattled off wins against New Lima later that night (see our weekend edition) and then picked up wins over Hammon and Vici on Friday.

Warriors dominate the field to win Dale Tournament

Okarche capped off one of the more impressive week’s in recent memory last Saturday.The Warriors laid claim to the Dale Invitational Tournament with a 6-1 victory over the host Pirates.It capped a three-day run in which Okarche outscored its foes 23-2.

Marathon day leads KHS to title

Five wins in one day?No problem. That was the task accomplished last Saturday by the Kingfisher High School softball team.Kingfisher held off a late Dickson rally to claim a 4-3 victory in the decisive game of the Mia Tapia Tournament at Pauls Valley.

Cross country season starts this weekend

Another Kingfisher High School fall sport begins Saturday while yet another inches closer to its season.The KHS cross country teams will make their season debuts Saturday at Weatherford’s Sand Plum Invitational.Junior high teams will also be running at the meet.KHS will host its own meet on Aug. 20.
