Okarche waited longer than most to open its season, but did so Thursday with a pair of wins at its own softball festival.

The Lady Warriors opened up play with a 10-0 win in four innings against Watonga and followed it up with an 8-2 victory against Cashion (pics of that game in this post).

Against Watonga, Kinley Pruett introduced herself to Okarche fans with a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning, which was her second hit of the game.

Pruett was 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and a pair of runs scored.

Emma Roby scored three runs and had an RBI while Katie Parham was 2 for 2 with a pair of runs.

Avery Treece allowed two hits and struck out nine in her shutout victory and also had 4 RBIs.

Okarche turned to Lawson Geheb in the circle in the nightcap against Cashion.

She went all five innings, surrendered four hits and struck out eight.

Okarche gave her an 8-0 cushion before Cashion scored in the top of the fourth.

Brynn Geisinger’s RBI double scored Morgan Buccholz, who led off the frame with a triple.

Geisinger was 2 for 2 in the game and also scored a run.

Okarche broke it open in the second inning with five runs to build a 7-0 lead.

That included a two-run homer by Pruett, which followed Geheb’s two-run double.

Pruett was 2 for 3 and scored twice.

Geheb and Callie Cramer drove in a pair of runs each.

Cashion followed up that loss by knocking off Vici 9-2 later on Thursday evening.

Geisinger collected two more hits, including a home run, and also got the win in the circle.

The festival continued on Friday and Saturday.

Okarche played Arnett and Union City on Friday while Cashion took on Calumet.

On Saturday, Okarche was set to battle Hinton at 10:30 a.m. and Crescent at noon.

Cashion played Hinton at 9 a.m. and Binger-Oney at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, both on the old field.
