Duane Fike

Duane John Fike was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Okeene. He passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, at his home in Kingfisher at the age of 85. He served in the Korean War from 1954-1956 and received an honorable discharge from the Marines. He worked at Western Electric for 31 years as an installer.

Joy Canon

Joy Ellen Canon was born Sept. 3, 1931, near Calumet, the daughter of Edward Loy and Edith (Andersen) Spear. An elementary school teacher, her career took her to Hutchinson, Kan., and later, while working for the Department of Defense Dependent School System, to Okinawa, Japan, and Ulm, Germany.

Knights of Columbus golf scramble is next Sunday

Kingfisher Golf Course will host the 25th annual Sts. Peter & Paul Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament next weekend. The four-person scramble will have an 8 a.m. shotgun start Sunday, Sept. 13. Cost is $200 per team.

Betty Triplett

Betty Triplett of Kingfisher was born July 31, 1926, and died Sept. 4, 2020, at the age of 94. Services are pending with Sanders Funeral Service.

2nd nursing home death, but active cases down

Another Hennessey COVID-19 death, the town and county’s second, was reported Tuesday in the Oklahoma State Department of Health statistics, but the number of active cases was down significantly.

County awards $1.7 million paving bid for Omega Road

Kingfisher County commissioners accepted the low bid of Haskell Lemon Construction Co. to pave the Omega Road at their weekly meeting Monday. The five mile project includes a section on NS 2700 plus paving on EW 790 leading to the Omega Cemetery and EW 780 to the town of Omega.

EMS district gets clean audit report

The Kingfisher Emergency Medical Service District (522) has received a clean audit for the 2019 fiscal year, State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd has announced.
