I want to give a brief update on COVID-19 and its effect on our state and our House district. As of this writing, there were 879 cases in the state, including 28 in Canadian County, two in Kingfisher County and one in Woodward County.

Attorney general warns of scams surrounding coronavirus relief funds

Attorney General Mike Hunter last week issued a warning about potential fraud to Oklahomans awaiting their economic impact payments from the federal government. The economic impact payments are part of the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: March 19 - Protective order violation. Officer Dustin Brodrick responded to a report of a protective order violation. March 20 - Unauthorized use of vehicle.

Light freezing rain fell on Kingfisher Thursday night, leaving glazed windshields and ice coated outdoor metal receptacles in its wake. The moisture was not enough to be measured by Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis or the local Mesonet station.

A Fungus Among Us?

Kingfisher County’s small grain crops are subject to a variety of fungal diseases due to damp, cool conditions, County Extension Director-Agricultural Agent Bryan Kennedy said Thursday. He advised producers to keep a close watch on their fields for signs of the problems.

The United States Postal Service, like many, is adjusting part of its routine with multiple operational changes due to COVID-19. “But delivering your mail and packages is not one of those changes,” assures Gary Townsend, postmaster of the Kingfisher Post Office.
