Traffic accidents

The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department:February 7, 12 p.m. - At 13th Street and Werner Avenue. Ryan Crow, 18, Kingfisher, driving a 2005 Ford F-150, was northbound in the inside lane of South 13th Street near Werner Avenue.

Happy Homemakers gather for meeting

Happy Homemakers held a meeting Feb. 10 at the Kingfisher Church of the Nazarene. Amy Tollison called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. Carol Liles gave the devotion then Irene Garrett gave the treasurer’s report.

Canadian County deputy dies in head-on accident in OKC

Canadian County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Shirley Lanning, 58, died in a two-car accident Friday, Feb. 14, on Northwest Expressway. Investigators’ reports indicated that Lanning’s vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided with an oncoming eastbound vehicle head-on.

Coronavirus impacts on ag exports

As agricultural markets respond anxiously to China’s attempts to control its coronavirus outbreak with a countrywide quarantine, economists are urging patience.

62% ad val taxes paid

County Treasurer Robin Rother reports that 61.8 percent of the county’s 2019 ad valorem tax has been paid. As of Thursday, Feb. 20, county property owners had paid $23,021,977.50 of the total tax certified for collection – $37,442,543, leaving a balance of $14,218,776.

STAYING ALIVE

Joriaun Caldwell provided most of the punch in getting Dover the lead. Trinton Ritz and Damion Turner helped make sure it stuck. The Longhorns kept their season alive Thursday by holding off Shidler 59-52 in their regional consolation quarterfinal at Mulhall-Orlando.
